“I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul” Pablo Neruda

Sometimes when I shoot a wedding it doesn’t actually feel like work. I get paid to hang out with awesome people in awesome locations. I felt like this when I recently went to New Zealand to photograph this beautiful wedding. At the time I felt a little drained, but the couple of days I spent with these people filled my cup up, in fact, my cup overflowed. Without sounding clichéd, this wedding was made with simplicity and love. It was hosted at their best friends parents house, who worked tirelessly to pull off an epic day for these guys. Family and friends pitched in to make cakes, food, decorations and entertainment. Libby is a dancer and Nick is a musician (and as a side note, you should check out the band he is a part of, Miles Calder and The Rumors, they are amazing!). Have you seen the movie Love Actually? If you have you will love what happened during this ceremony. Their beautiful friends and family did their own version of the ceremony scene in the movie, unbeknown to the bride and groom. Just when they thought the ceremony was over people in the crowd starting playing instruments and singing Ray LaMontagne’s ‘You are the best thing’. It was beautiful to watch. So here is a small version of a really big day. Enjoy! xx
