“Do not ask your children
to strive for extraordinary lives.
Such striving may seem admirable,
but it is the way of foolishness.
Help them instead to find the wonder
and the marvel of an ordinary life.
Show them the joy of tasting
tomatoes, apples and pears.
Show them how to cry
when pets and people die.
Show them the infinite pleasure
in the touch of a hand.
And make the ordinary come alive for them.
The extraordinary will take care of itself.” {William Martin}

Finding beauty and hope in ordinary life is what makes my heart full. Just the other night I thought my heart might possibly explode as we sat down for our family meal. Our Sunday night speciality is pancakes and ice-cream for dinner, a rare treat for the household. Ziggy was squealing with delight as he scoped the ice-cream from the tub, Harper was singing and moving to Bob Marley playing on the record while Steve was serving out the pancakes that were bigger then the plates they were landing on. I sat and breathed it in. Ordinary life. Find the beauty in it. I dare you.

Here are a series of images of a beautiful family I have grown to love. We thought about taking photos elsewhere, as I have documented them in their home a number of times. But in the end we all decided it was a little strange trying to document them anywhere else but their happy place. Home. Living their ordinary life yet living a life uncommon. Wren is the newest family member. Enjoy the images of the entire family, chooks and all xx
